Camaro GT scores best result of the season

18TH PLACE FOR SANDRITTER/GEIPEL IN THE FINAL RACE OF THE ADAC GT MASTERS

October 3rd, 2012

Mission accomplished: YACO Racing powered by Jochen Schweizer finished the 2012 ADAC GT Masters on high and reached the self-imposed goal to finish within the top-20. In the 16th and final race of the season at Hockenheim, Max Sandritter and Philip Geipel finished in 18th position in the Chevrolet Camaro GT. In the first race at the final round of the season, the Camaro GT felt victim of an attack of a competitor.

Max Sandritter and Philip Geipel used the last chance at the final round of the ADAC GT Masters season to reach the season goal. At Hockenheim, the Camaro drivers managed the final foray into the highly competitive midfield of the ADAC GT Masters. Sandritter/Geipel finished in 18th position and scored their best result of the season. Already in Saturday’s penultimate race of the season, the Camaro-drivers had a strong race and were en route to a top-20 finished, when a competitor hit the Camaro under braking and forced Sandritter to retire from the race.

Team boss Uwe Geipel was pleased with the good result just before the winter break, which will be very short for YACO RACING powered by Jochen Schweizer: „Our primary goal was this season to finish within in the top-20. This goal is now archived. Now we will have only a very short break, has we work together with Sareni United, the developers of the Camaro GT, intensively on updates for the 2013 season and have a development test planned in the coming weeks.“

“It was an exhausting, but great second race for me,” Philip Geipel said after the season finale. “I had a tough, but very fair battle with a Ford GT and a BMW. The cool down lap was very emotional, there was a standing ovation from the fans. 18th place in the final race of the year is our best result. We can built on this for the coming weeks, were have planned a intensive development program with the car for the 2013 season.“
